How to Manage VPS Power and Console Access
Understand everyday VPS controls and choose the least disruptive action when a server needs attention.
Find the right server
Open your service from the official TudCloud website and launch its management panel. Check the server identifier, IP address, and current power state before clicking a power control. Available controls differ between platforms and products.
Choose the appropriate action
- Start: power on a stopped virtual machine. Wait for the guest operating system and applications to boot.
- Graceful shutdown or reboot: prefer an operating-system request when the guest is responsive. Save work and give services time to stop.
- Forced stop or reset: use only when a normal shutdown is not possible. An abrupt stop can interrupt writes and require application recovery.
- Console: inspect the guest screen or sign in when ordinary SSH or RDP access is unavailable, if your plan exposes a console.
A safer troubleshooting sequence
- Check the displayed power state and any task already in progress.
- Try the expected application or remote-access service. An unreachable website does not necessarily mean the whole VM is off.
- Use the console to inspect the system and read errors. Check disk space, memory pressure, service status, and the network configuration.
- If a restart is required, schedule it where possible and use the graceful option first.
- Afterward, verify that important services came back and review logs for the original cause.
Avoid repeated power actions
Do not send several restarts while a previous task is still running. Power controls do not repair a broken application configuration, and Rebuild is not a restart. If the panel and console disagree about the state, report the server identifier and timestamps to support.
